Karakalpakstan delegation signing new documents with KFU

A delegation from the Republic of Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan) headed by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Bairam Otemuratov signed an additional protocol to the memorandum of understanding on the development and strengthening of ties in education and science on 26 July.

The delegation also included Madiyar Elmuratov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on digitization, Batyrbek Kaipbergenov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kuanyshbai Azerbayev, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, as well as rectors and directors of leading universities and technical schools.

Kazan Federal University was represented at the meeting by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina, Director of the Institute of Psychology and Education Aidar Kalimullin, Director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences Svetlana Selivanovskaya, Director of the Institute Geology and of Petroleum Technologies Vladimir Silantyev and Deputy Director for Development of the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems Irina Maximova.

The guests began their acquaintance with the university at the History Museum.

As the Vice-Rector noted in a conversation with journalists, the university is actively cooperating with leading educational institutions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and most of the representatives of the delegation have already visited Kazan University.

“A cooperation agreement was signed between Tatarstan and Karakalpakstan, within the framework of which cooperation in education is also developing. We have signed agreements on interaction and cooperation with a number of universities of Karakalpakstan. Colleagues come to us for advanced training, moreover, we organized a forum on teacher education in the city of Nukus in 2023,” Alishev said.

During the official meeting the delegation was presented the structure of KFU, as well as the results of its cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In his speech Dr Alishev noted that more than 12 thousand foreign students study at Kazan University, 1,967 of which are citizens of Uzbekistan.

Cooperation between KFU institutes and Nukus State Pedagogical Institute, Nukus Mining Institute, Nukus Branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies, and other institutions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan were discussed.

Representatives of KFU institutes, in turn, told about the activities of the university’s departments and outlined points of interaction with their colleagues.

“We offer joint development of unique educational programs that are not yet available on the Uzbekistani market. We have the potential for this. This means that it will be entirely a local program, but we will supervise it jointly. We will also give online lectures from Kazan. We are aiming at a master’s program”, – said the Director of the Institute of Psychology and Education.

The outcome of the meeting was the signing of an additional protocol on the development and strengthening of ties in education and science to the memorandum of understanding between Kazan Federal University and Karakalpak State University. The parties also exchanged memorable gifts.
