Rector Lenar Safin speaks with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh
The delegation visited on 29 November.
Also present were Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology Andrey Kiyasov, and Head of Student, Scholarship and International School Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ahmed Heydarian.
The sides discussed cooperation in education and science with a special focus on the quality of teaching.
Vahid Jalalzadeh noted the huge scientific potential of one of the oldest universities in Russia and its significant weight in the global academic community. The Deputy Minister also thanked the leadership of Kazan University for the invitation and attention on the hospitable land of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Rector, in turn, said that the university is actively cooperating with scientific and educational centers and other partner organizations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“We have 1,224 citizens of Iran studying here. Mostly the young people choose medical specialties. Also, we accepted 267 people to the Preparatory School in the current academic year. The figures are very big,” emphasized Lenar Safin. “Nevertheless, the university on its part tries to create the most favorable conditions for comprehensive development of each student. The university has various scientific clubs, sports clubs, and creative teams. Besides, there is the Center of Iranian Studies, and the history of Farsi language studies dates back to the first quarter of the 19th century.”
“Our students do not stay aside, they actively participate in the life of the university, and if any issues arise, they are solved by the university management efficiently. I and my colleagues held meetings with them recently, the students are very grateful to you for the quick feedback and attention to their problems,” Vahid Jalalzadeh said.
At the end of the meeting the parties expressed their common confidence that the interaction between Kazan Federal University and the Islamic Republic of Iran will develop in a positive way, and the joint work will contribute to the strengthening of partnership, cultural and historical ties between the peoples of both countries.
Then the Iranian delegation proceeded to the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, where it had a meeting with its students. The visit ended with a visit to the Museum of History of Kazan University and acquaintance with the unique copies of the collection of the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books.
