400 heavy trucks of snow: cleaning ongoing at the Universiade Village

The biggest bulk of KFU dorm inhabitants – 9 thousand of 14 thousand – are accommodated at the Universiade Village, the city’s largest dormitory complex.

Vice-Rector for Construction and Maintenance Almaz Mingulov comments, “It’s very important that students live safely in the Village. Cleaning processes are always ongoing both inside the buildings and in the street. When there is heavy snowfall, we first take care of walkways and then must clean roads within two hours.”

Daily, there are 60 technical workers in charge of cleaning the territory of the Village, including 30 street cleaners. There are also 6 units of heavy road machines – tractors and excavators, as well as a number of small cleaning vehicles.

The current winter has been rich in ice rains, and there have been intermittent timeframes when intra-village roads were covered with thin ice. According to the cleaning contractor’s chief executive, Marat Usmanov, 400 heavy trucks have been already removed from the territory. Over one metric ton of ice-melting reagents are used each week.

Students also have an opportunity to apply for maintenance services through their personal accounts at KPFU.RU.
