Student City Dormitory #4 opened after major renovation
Vice-Premier of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva and Rector Lenar Safin visited the dorm on 13 July.
The guests were shown the renovated administrative, teaching and living areas, as well as common areas: kitchens, showers, ironing rooms, etc. First of all, Deputy Prime Minister noted the stylish and modern design of the premises, which was thanks to the professional contribution of the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts, as well as their ergonomics, comfort and functionality.
“This is a completely new standard of dormitory, which was realized in a building dating back to 1962. But this building is also great because it now has everything for comfortable living and pastime together. Young people can gather in large companies, cook together, and then treat each other to the food. After all, the most important thing for every person is communication,” Leila Fazleeva emphasized.
The Rector, in turn, noted that bringing all the dormitories of the student campus to a normal condition is the main task for the university.
“We want to make living conditions equally comfortable for all students. Of course, it is impossible to do everything at once, but we are actively helped by the Republic and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. Our students themselves come to us with initiatives and suggestions on how to improve the dorm spaces, and we always listen carefully to their wishes. After all, student time is the most memorable years. I myself lived in a dormitory, just the one we have reopened today, so it is close and understandable to me,” said Lenar Safin.
Almaz Mingulov, Vice-Rector for Construction and Maintenance, told in more detail about the repair works carried out in the dormitory.
The pipes, power supply and heating systems were completely replaced. The kitchens, bathrooms and rooms were also renovated, and each of them was provided with Internet access. For security purposes, a video surveillance system and an updated fire alarm system were installed. Four shower rooms were organized on each floor (before the renovation there was one shower room on the basement floor). An assembly hall and a study room were renovated. In total, the building is designed for 695 beds – with 231 living rooms.
Director of the Department of Youth Policy Yuliya Vinogradova told about the suitability of the dorm space not only for living, but also for creativity and joint work.
In addition, the dorm dwellers were able to personally communicate with the Rector and the Vice-Premier, to ask questions, to make suggestions for further design and improvement of open spaces of dormitories.
Leila Fazleeva suggested organizing an additional meeting with students, where she would discuss specific ideas and understand what can be done in the near future
At the moment, repair works have been completed in the Student City dormitories No. 3 (block 3 and 4), No. 4 (right wing), and No. 6.
Since July 1, students have been moving into dormitories 15, 16, and 17 of the Universiade Village, where repair works have also been completed. In the near future, students are expected to move to dormitory No. 4 (left wing) of the Student City.
