Student City’s 10th Dorm gets renovated
Large-scale works have been completed before the end of this academic year.
Director of Student City Radik Nikolaev comments, “The dorm currently houses 239 students, mostly from the Institute of International Relations. Special attention was paid to restrooms and shower rooms. Gas stoves were also replaced, and stairways were renovated. We also refurbished 11 rooms which had been in urgent need of that.”
The dorm is rather old, having been built in 1964, and needs further overhaul. Master student Yelena Gorokhtseva says about the recent changes, “The floors are now tiled (instead of wooden), walls are of a more palatable color; the ceiling and room doors were also replaced. Apart from new bathroom fixtures, we are also glad to see larger mirrors. There is a huge difference between then and now! I want to thank the University for this renovation.”
Turkmenistani student Anvar Muradov adds, “I’ve been living here for four years. Our room was fully revamped – new linoleum, painted walls, new ceiling, and even new furniture.”
Among the pleasant additions the students also mentioned new boilers – now 150 liters in volume instead of 50 liters – which really makes showering much more convenient for everyone.
