The Institute of Physics undergoing major renovation

The works should be completed in the autumn.

The famous high-rise from 1973 – at that time the highest building in Kazan – is having outside repairs. Windows are to be replaced, vertical pylons refreshed, and, most importantly, the facade is being insulated with a layer of mineral wool – a long expected change for a building which used to be quite cold in the winter. Finally, decorative plaster and painting are going to complete the job. The insulation with additional protective layer should provide comfortable temperature in every room.

A sculpture composition with the E=mc² formula is also being renovated. It had been originally conceived by Ildar Khanov, who then came up with the now world-famous Universal Temple in the suburb of Kazan.

As for the color, the building is set to retain its original dark grey hue.
