Renovated dorm opened at Naberezhnye Chelny Institute

The #B dorm renovation was presented at a ceremony on 2 September.

The ceremony was attended by Farid Salakhov, Head of the Executive Committee of Naberezhnye Chelny, Almaz Mingulov, Vice-Rector of Kazan Federal University for Construction and Maintenance, and Georgii Kotiev, Director of the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute.

Mr Salakhov congratulated the faculty on the start of the academic year and said that he himself is also a KFU graduate, “I was twice a student of Kazan University, and I received two diplomas. It is very interesting and exciting to study here.”

He noted that the Institute has wonderful teachers who do their best to ensure that graduates enter adulthood with necessary knowledge. The Institute’s infrastructure, including dormitories, plays an important role in that.

“In my time dormitories were a place where people came to spend the night and went to classes. Now they are modern buildings with everything necessary to make student life memorable for a long time,” Salakhov added.

Director Kotiev noted, “I congratulate you on the opening of the overhauled dormitory. The work has been done to the highest standards, the same standards that are used to renovate dormitories in Kazan. You should be comfortable here. We are doing everything to make your studies excellent and your student life full.”

The dormitory is designed for 500 bunks. The living area of the dorm is 2,940.2 square meters and the total area is 6,078.6 square meters.

“This is a great place to live, we tried to make it as comfortable as possible, we discussed concepts, approaches. We thought through not only common areas, but also new locations that will allow you to spend your free time, we also tried to make them modern and high-quality. I would like to thank the city and RCC Engineering for the timely and high-quality renovation. I hope this is not the last project that is being brought to life in Chelny. Our task is to make the KFU branch a world-class campus, to make it comfortable for you to live and study, to make it all within walking distance, and we will solve these tasks in the future. I congratulate you on the opening of this wonderful facility and, of course, on the beginning of the academic year,” Vice-Rector Almaz Mingulov emphasized.

As part of the renovation, the roof, all communications, and elevators were replaced, a new entrance was installed, all doors and windows were replaced, a new ceiling was made, plumbing and stoves were replaced. In addition, each floor now has two refrigerators. And a new public space has appeared on the first floor of the dorm.

Now more than 7,500 students are studying at NCI on programs of higher and vocational education, 1,900 of them are students of the Institute’s College of Engineering and Economics.

The opening ceremony was followed by a meeting with the student activists of the institute and dormitories.

“I entered the College of Engineering and Economics, and I will study to be a logistics manager. I liked the dormitory very much. Excellent repairs. A spacious room and new furniture. Very comfortable bed. For me it is important that there is a large closet. The shower and toilet are great. In the kitchen there is a new stove. Everywhere is clean. After college I dream to get higher education in the same institute,” vocational college student Adelya Gumarova shared her impressions.

In 2024, about 8,000 applications were submitted to NCI, 1,434 people became students of tertiary programs, another 739 are enrolled in vocational education.
