Dormitory #6 opened after complete renovation
The building was visited by Rais (Governor) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The 9-storey dorm was built in 1976, and this was its first major overhaul since then, as Rector Lenar Safin said to the Governor. It accommodates up to 600 students in 213 rooms.
The delegation toured the rooms themselves, hallways, a study room, a meeting room, and a newly furbished elevator hall which can now also serve as a meeting space. Importantly, the dormitory, keeping up with legal regulations, now has living facilities for students with special health requirements.
Governor Minnikhanov noted that he can see the positive change in Kazan University in regard to comfortable conditions for student life and studies. He used the opportunity to talk to students; they shared some details of their everyday life and extracurricular activities.
Among the visitors were Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Airat Gatiyatov.
