Rector’s greeting

For many years now, KFU has been a federal university, one of the biggest and most diversified institutions of higher learning in Russia. Founded in 1804, our university has been the alma mater for generations of scholars, statespersons, artists, entrepreneurs, and masters of all crafts. Kazan University has been renowned for its schools in chemistry, astronomy, linguistics, law, geology and many other disciplines.
KFU has been a participant of many academic excellence initiatives. In 2013 – 2020, we partook in Project 5-100, the first undertaking of its kind to advance local universities in global rankings. We have steadily improved our standing and are currently among the top 400 in QS World University Rankings. Starting in 2021, we joined the Priority 2030 program, a Russian governmental academic leadership initiative, and chose five strategic priorities – genomic technology; energy transition; digital studies of materials; solutions for IT, AI and cyber-physical systems; and enhancement of human potential. Whatever our students choose to learn, they can enjoy our top-notch amenities – dorms, sports facilities, social hubs, library, museums, and much more.
