International Student Week concludes with Lunar New Year celebration
The Week, the first event of its kind, was warmly met by international students.
Kazan Federal University hosts over 11 thousand international students, which is the second biggest number in this metric in Russia. Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev notes, “Our university welcomes students from over 100 countries. Overall, Tatarstan has 21 thousand such students. Which means that KFU teaches over half of them.”

The Institute of International Relations put forth the initiative of holding an international student week. Deputy Director of the Institute Albina Imamutdinova says, “We organized a large-scale event for the university. Adapting to life in Russia is a very important aspect of studying. Of course, involvement from senior mentors is also very important. Our International Office has a student adaptation unit, and the latter stepped up as a co-organizer.”
Jordanian student Ismail Lilian Ali shares her impressions of the Week, “I liked it very much, and I hope there will be more such events in the future. The most important thing is that students actively partook in it. For instance, I joined a competition in Russian language.”

Mongolian national Gantomor Zolboobayar Imim informs that he found new friends, “At a History Museum quest I really touched the past of our University. It was very exciting to solve riddles and make new acquaintances. We also had a lecture on Valentine’s Day traditions in different countries. And we tasted many national cuisines.”
