Iranian students invited guests to Yaldā concert

A festivity was held to celebrate one of the most ancient holidays in the world.

The Yaldā Night is the winter solstice festival, and its celebration dates back to as early as 6th century.

The concert featured Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan Dawood Mirzakhani, Deputy of the State Council of Tatarstan Airat Zaripov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, and others.

The Consul General said in his greeting, “This holiday is one of the most ancient for Iranians and Farsi-speaking peoples. I congratulate everyone and thank those who help us in holding this event. I want to express special gratitude to Vice-Rector Alishev and his colleagues.”

The Consul proceeded to give out letters of appreciation to international students who contributed to the organizing effort and excelled in other extracurricular activities at the University.

The concert comprised many performances by Iranian and Tajikistani students, including music and poetry.

Altyn Dance School presented a Tatar dance.

Vice-Rector Alishev addressed the audience with the following, “For me and for all the guests it was a great pleasure to get acquainted with the culture of Farsi-speaking peoples. In our turn, I would like for you to know about our ‘Old New Year’. I wish you health and all the best.”

The festival concluded with another musical performance from Iranian students and with photos.
