Mosaic of Peoples Festival gala held at University

The event was organized on the evening of 14 November.

As usual, a small expo of participating countries was compiled in the foyer of the UNICS Cultural Center, where the visitors could familiarize themselves with cuisines, traditions and customs of various ethnicities and nations.

The concert comprised vocal, dance and theater performances and was opened with a flag parade. Everyone was welcomed by vice-rectors Timirkhan Alishev and Arif Mezhvedilov.

“I want to thank the Department of Youth Policy for its yearly effort in arranging this festival. I want to remind that the Mosaic of Peoples unites international students, of which there are over 12,000 from 100 countries. We are the family of Kazan Federal University,” said Dr Alishev.

Arif Mezhvedilov added, “This event is a part of our university’s anniversary celebrations. I want to thank the international students who contribute to our alma mater’s educational and research activities.”

Winners were then announced in various nominations, including kettlebell sports, volleyball, mas-wrestling (stick pulling), cooking, trivia, and others.

Among the languages filling the halls of UNICS were Tatar, Chinese, French, Albanian, and many others.
