Summer University started at KFU

The welcome meeting was held on 10 July.

The Summer University is co-held by KFU, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and Federal Agency Sociocenter.

The program includes lectures, seminars, practicums, as well as excursions and cultural events.

The event was attended by Andrey Pominov, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan, Dmitry Tayursky, First Vice-Rector of KFU, Kirill Semenikhin, Director of Innopolis University, Mikhail Abramsky, Director of the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems of KFU, Dilbar Sadykova, Head of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, and Georgy Suvorov, Deputy Director of Sociocenter. A greeting from Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko was read to the audience.

In his welcoming words, Vice-Rector Tayursky said that KFU hosts 11 thousand international students, which makes it second in Russia after RUDN University of Moscow. Last October, KFU opened its first overseas branch in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan, and a second is slated for opening in Cairo, Egypt. Three preparatory schools have started working in Iran, Turkey, and Egypt. Summer University is co-hosted by Lobachevsky University, Samara State Technical University, Udmurt State University, and Innopolis University.

An ensuing panel discussion was moderated by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev. He mentioned that the project covers eight tracks: humanities, economics, international relations, culture, architecture, environment, IT, and physics. The participants will also be given opportunities to pitch social outreach projects with possible future funding. Among the offered tracks two are in English language – Digital economy and Environmental design.
