Kazan Federal University

Summer University to be held at KFU on 8 – 22 July

Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, told that the Summer University project is an important event for Kazan Federal University.

“From July 8 to 22 we will host the second Summer University. Last year the summer school was successful. More than 300 young people took part in the project. This year we want not only to repeat, but also to scale up the experience and practices,” emphasized the Vice-Rector. “Indeed, we will have 300 foreign guests from more than 20 countries and about 100 Russian participants. Within two weeks Kazan University will organize educational tracks in various areas in Russian and English languages”.

The program of the Summer University will be held in the following tracks: “Artificial Intelligence and Information Technologies of Prompt-engineering”; “Technologies of the Future: Physics and Engineering”; “Language. Culture. Creativity”; “Architecture. Design. Urbanism”; “Business Analytics 5.0: Design and Development of Information Panels with Yandex Data Lens (in English)”; “BRICS+: New Trends in International Relations (in English)”. A new addition is the track connected with the upcoming global event – the BRICS Summit – the BRICS+ Model. The Institute of International Relations, Institute of Psychology and Education, Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, Institute of Physics, Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Systems Engineering, Institute of Computational Mathematics and Information Technology, Institute of Management, Economics and Finance, Institute of Design and Spatial Arts have actively joined the project.

The Vice-Rector emphasized that based on the results of last year’s summer school the guests expressed their desire and readiness to continue their studies at Kazan Federal University. Particular interest is directed towards graduate programs.

“The program of the Summer University provides master classes, seminars, practical classes from leading teachers of Kazan University and industry specialists, events aimed at getting acquainted with Russian culture and Russian language, getting acquainted with the sights of the Republic of Tatarstan and its capital. This way the guests will be able to get to know each other and make new friends. I think it will be a friendship that will last a lifetime. As the practice of the first Summer University shows, the chat rooms that were created that year to coordinate the project are still active. Some of the young people are already studying at Kazan Federal University,” Dr Alishev noted.

KFU students will volunteer throughout the event.

“Volunteer activity of Kazan University has a long and rich tradition. The students will be actively involved in the organizational process. The guests will live in KFU dormitories, eat at the nearby IT Lyceum and the central campus of the university; transportation logistics will be arranged,” assured the Vice-Rector.

Based on the results of the last school, Kazan University collected feedback from the guests of the university and took into account their wishes during the organization and preparation for this year’s Summer University. The participants will have more time to get acquainted with the city and the Republic than last year.

The organizers adapted the menu for citizens of a particular country. It was not very challenging, as Kazan Federal University is already a home to more than 12.5 thousand overseas students.

The federal project Summer University is organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and is aimed at promoting Russian education abroad, establishing interpersonal, intercultural and interethnic communication, developing ties between countries, Russian and foreign students. The project was first implemented in 2021 in the format of a large-scale educational project of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. KFU joined it last year.
