Architectural roundtable held as part of 4th OIC Youth Scientific Congress

The Institute of Design and Spatial Arts opened the Architecture, Design, and Art session on 1 October. Karina Nabiullina, Director of the Institute, delivered welcoming remarks. She told the guests about the institute’s history and noted that its building is a cultural heritage site, “Five years ago, we started from scratch. There were about ten like-minded people who believed in the project, in its uniqueness and importance, and in its potential to create significant educational value for young people. Today, we are almost 2,000 people — students and teachers. We are a complete professional creative community, and we are proud of our students and teachers, who have many practical projects already implemented.”
In the first part of the event, representatives of OIC countries divided into groups for project work, the results of which they will present today. The participants are young architects and specialists from related fields, including media design, graphic design, construction, structural engineering, and the preservation of national motifs in culture and art. This part was moderated by Eleonora Galimova, Head of Educational Projects at the Academy of Youth Diplomacy.
“We included a project-work component in the program in order to create a legacy for the congress. Within this framework, young researchers will develop joint ideas and projects that can subsequently be implemented, allowing them to continue their cooperation afterwards,” Galimova explained.
The second part began in a round-table format and will continue on 2 October. Participants will present their research projects in one of five thematic areas as reports to a jury. Today, the young researchers spoke on the subject of restoration and conservation.
The evaluation committee included staff members of the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts: Rushania Taktamysheva, Deputy Director for Research; instructors Aida Mukhametzyanova and Dilyara Akshova; as well as an invited expert, Kylimbek Narynbekov, an architect at the construction company Icon Development and a researcher at the Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University. The session was moderated by Iraida Bedenko, Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts. The winners will have the opportunity to enrol in master’s or doctoral programs at KFU.
“Every researcher views the issues of their own region in a distinctive way and seeks to address them through historical construction practices characteristic of that area. We should not take other countries as our model; we need to preserve our own uniqueness,” Bedenko noted.
The congress is organized by Kazan Federal University with the support of the Ministry for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Group of Strategic Vision Russia–Islamic World, and the Academy of Youth Diplomacy.
