Russia and China in a Changing World Forum opened at KFU

The cerermony was held today at the Institute of International Relations.

The 4th iteration of the forum includes four key events:

16th Conference Russia-China: History and Culture;

Model Shanghai Cooperation Organization;

Expert Panel on the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the 10th Anniversary of the Volga – Yangtze Format;

a presentation of the 2nd volume of the seven-volume collection of works of Pu Songling.

Apart from that, the forum is also dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the reform and openness policy in China and the 205th anniversary of Vasily Vasilyev (1818 – 1900), the founder of Russian Sinology.

The participants were greeted by First Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky and Consul General of China in Kazan Xiang Bo.

Among the guests were Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minnullina, Head of the Section of International Cooperation of the Department of International Affairs of the Office of the Rais (Governor) of Tatarstan Airat Zaripov, Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia (Russian Academy of Sciences) Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of International Relations of KFU Ramil Khayrutdinov, and writer Ruan Mei.

During the cerermony, KFU’s Christian Frähn Medal was awarded to Alexander Storozhuk, Chair of the Department of Chinese Philology of Saint-Petersburg State University.

The opening of the Model Shanghai Cooperation Organization was visited by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan Fariddin Nasriev, First Deputy Chairman of the Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce Artur Nikolaev, Vice-President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Vadim Khomenko, and Acting Deputy Director of the Kazan Branch of the All-Russian University of Justice Alexander Shamigulov.

The forum, which spans today and tomorrow, also comprises open lectures, master classes, book presentations, and much more.
