Local branch of the Movement of the First opens at KFU
The youth movement was created in 2022 on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin to educate young people, organize leisure activities for kids of all ages, and form a worldview based on traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.
Kazan Federal University became the first university in Tatarstan to open a local branch of the movement.
The opening ceremony was attended by Timur Suleimanov, Chairman of the Provincial Branch of the Movement of the First, Aide to the Governor of Tatarstan.
“In most regions, primary branches have already appeared. We held back this process so that the idea of joining us would take root. After two years of contacts with Kazan University, we understand that there are many students who want to do this. I expect that the emergence of such infrastructure will help both you and KFU to develop,” Suleimanov said.
As Yuliya Vinogradova, Director of the Department of Youth Policy, said, the university has been actively and for a long time interacting with the movement. The main goal of creating the local branch, according to her, was to unite higher school and high school students of Kazan University.
“We have identified seven areas for ourselves that will be actively developed at our university. In addition, we have established close interaction with our lyceums so that students become senior mentors for the younger kids,” Vinogradova said.
Today, about 50 students of the Lobachevsky Lyceum took part in the event. As Elena Skobeltsyna, Principal of the Lyceum, explained, they all represent the council of lyceum students and are also ready to actively participate in various projects.
“The level of activity of our guys in social projects is very high. In this way, they show their readiness to help people, self-develop and acquire new skills that are very important and needed today. The main ones, I believe, are the ability to live and work in a team. The Movement of the First, in my opinion, successfully combines the manifestations of individual talents in a collective creative work,” shared the Principal.
An initiative group of KFU students introduced the schoolchildren to the activities and opportunities of the movement. Among them was Pavel Kuzmin, a student of the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications.
He said that the main task of the initiative group is career guidance – helping young people find their future profession and enter Kazan University.
The first joint event of KFU and the Movement of the First, as announced by Vinogradova, will be the scientific festival Territory of Knowledge, which will be held in February 2025.
