Bustan sports complex opens after major renovation

Rector Lenar Safin has inspected the premises.

Accompanied by Vice-Rector for Construction and Maintenance Airat Khalikov and Head of the Directorate of Social and Sports Facilities of the University Alexander Lukonin, he visited the sports hall, locker rooms, office and maintenance rooms.

Lenar Safin also talked to the students – members of various sports teams. During the conversation, the Rector noted that the university pays great attention to sports and physical development of students.

“The university has many sports halls and facilities available to all our students. I am sure that everyone will find a sport to their liking here, and we, for our part, are ready to create the necessary conditions for you to develop and achieve success. Today we have renovated the Bustan complex for you. I think that soon we will hear about your next victories, as the Kazan University student sports teams are among the best in Russia,” he emphasized.

The Bustan Sports Complex and Pool were completed in February 2011 and transferred to the operational management of Kazan Federal University in the same year.

During the 2013 Summer Universiade, the complex was intended for volleyball qualifying games. Today, physical education classes are held here for students, various city and provincial competitions are held, and services are provided to the local population.

During the major repairs, new partitions and floors were dismantled and installed, the foundation was reinforced, the sewage and water supply systems were replaced, the electrical engineering systems were restored, finishing work was done, and stained glass windows were installed. The total area of ​​the renovated part of the building is 2991.11 square meters.
