Experts share academic career advice with students

Career at the Federal was a tagline of yesterday’s meeting at the University’s Media Center.
The event was organized by KFU’s Center for Student Employment and Obshchestvo Znanie (Russian Knowledge Society).
“Since KFU is one of the largest employers in the city, we decided to tell students about working at our university. This is not our first collaboration with the HR department and other structural units of the university, where we emphasize this feature and the possibility for students to continue their studies in graduate and postgraduate programs so that they can work at the university in the future,” said Nail Vyalshin, Head of the Center for Temporary Student Employment.
The first to spill words of wisdom was Consultant Professor German Budnikov (Department of Analytical Chemistry). He spoke about his way to the highest academic honor – the title of a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, “You have to study all your life. If you have received a specialty, you need to acquire certain skills and constantly improve them. And teachers should also take retraining and professional development courses, because science has become mobile, there are changes that need to be taken into account.”
Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Physics Irina Romanova talked about her scientific interests, work, family, and even pets, “I graduated from music school and play the cello, and after physics and mathematics lyceum I entered Kazan University. A key stage of my life was an internship in Japan. After that, I entered graduate school, defended my thesis and started my career at KFU.”
Dr Romanova is an avid singer and is now working on recording her first album. She thanked her family for their full support and inspiration.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Development of the University Clinic Ivan Kiyasov also talked about his studies and career path in biomedicine.
