Flower laying ceremony held in Rector’s Garden

Rector Lenar Safin and vice-rectors joined the ceremony in the Main Building courtyard.

First Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky noted, “We commemorate those who fought for the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. They gave us our lives, our opportunities to learn, work, and create. We always remember them with warmth.”

The Alley of Glory was opened in the courtyard in 2015. The Alley featured a commemorative wall with engraved names of war heroes and a bust of Musa Jalil, famous poet and writer who was executed in a Nazi prison for attempting to organize a POW riot.

Vice-Rector for General Affairs Rishat Guzeyrov mused, “The Victory Day is indeed a sacred holiday for all of us. My grandfather served throughout the whole war as a tank commander. When we speak about the importance of this day, we really cannot fully fathom how our ancestors lived through that.”

Yesterday, the Victory Banner was hoisted on the Main Building to celebrate the Victory Day.
