Rector Lenar Safin meets with activists before Russian Student Day

The biggest student holiday in Russia, Tatyana’s Day (25 January) is always marked by many events at KFU.

Two days before the holiday, representatives of the student body came to congratulate Rector Lenar Safin and talk to him about the most important issues.

The Rector told the students about the amazing corners of the Russia he had managed to visit. At last year’s meeting, he expressed a desire to visit Kamchatka – and delivered on the promise last year.

“Our country is incredibly large and beautiful, unique and inimitable, different everywhere, but united at the same time! Traveling in general is part of our development and education. However, traveling around Russia gives us a true understanding of this unity and grand scale, and most importantly – a sense of belonging,” said Lenar Safin.

The students, in turn, told us which Russian regions they had visited, and what projects and proposals were born thanks to such trips.

International students shared their impressions of Russia, emphasizing that the country opened up many opportunities for them and became a second home.

Family values were also a topic during the discussion. 2024 was declared the Year of the Family, and KFU did a lot to support the families of employees and students.

A total of 70 student families are currently enrolled in the university, where both parents are students of KFU. Last year, by order of the rector, KFU paid 100 thousand rubles to such young families on the occasion of new additions to the families. Lenar Safin officially announced that he had decided to extend this support program to 2025. He also reported that after a major renovation of student dormitories separate family units will appear on campuses for more comfortable and convenient living with children.

The Rector then presented the student families with keys to the rooms and memorable gifts.

The year 2025 in Russia is officially declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. Students-participants of the special military operation joined the meeting to speak about patriotism and heritage, about pride and honor.

The Rector expressed words of great gratitude to them for their courage, character and resilience.

The meeting ended with a discussion of the students’ achievements and victories in various areas, as well as their plans for the future.

Lenar Safin added that his plans include continuing to develop the university’s infrastructure and improve the conditions for study, as well as promoting science and improving the quality of education.

In addition, the Rector held a ceremony of awarding letters of gratitude to students who actively participate in science, volunteering, social work, and sports. The awardees are also to receive a cash prize.
