Academic cooperation discussed in Almaty and Shymkent, Kazakhstan

Vice-Rector for External Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and Counsellor to the Rector for Cooperation with Central Asia Rashit Azimov spent 22 and 23 July in the neighboring country.

They first arrived at the Kazakh National University and met with Vice-Rector for Operations Asel Uvalieva. The sides agreed to arrange an internship in innovation studies for KNU colleagues in Kazan.

In Shymkent, talks were held with Chairman of Ontustik Corporation Serikzhan Seitzhanov. The company plans to invest in a KFU branch in the city. A discussion took place about funding formats and proposed study programs for the branch.

Another meeting was conducted with the leadership of South Kazakhstan State University. Our two institutions plan to launch joint programs in 2023. SKSU is also ready to assist in establishing the KFU branch and provide organizational and staff support.

Kazan Federal University is among the priority partners in education in Russia for the Kazakhstani side, as confirmed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his trip to Kazan in February 2022.
