As the Acting Rector noted, the schools will be based at the Kama industrial cluster, which includes the largest Russian truck maker KAMAZ and Alabuga Special Economic Zone. Every year, the cluster needs 5 thousand new engineers, and the demand is projected to increase twofold by 2030.

At KFU, the engineering school currently comprises 7 departments and over 100 educators and researchers at the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute. The three main priorities are driverless vehicles, alternative fuels, and AI for the Internet of Things.

The University plans to open three new excellence centers – Center for PLM/PDM/MES System, Center for Prototyping, and VeHIL Testing Polygon, as well as 17 other polygons, labs, and technological units.
