Chemists present developments at Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan’s annual report meeting

The event was helmed by Rais (Governor) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and featured an expo attracting over 50 local companies and universities.

KFU’s Institute of Chemistry was represented by Director Marat Ziganshin, Professor of the Department of Organic and Medical Chemistry Igor Antipin, Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry Alexander Lamberov, Lead Engineer of the Laboratory of Module Systems Based on Metal-Containing Polymers with Bifunctional Therapeutic Agent/Vector Activity for Targeted Drug Delivery Dinar Balkaev, and others.

“We showed new composite materials for such technologies as additive printing and molding for the production of complex-shaped parts under pressure,” said Dr Antipin.

He also brought polymer films and filaments for 3D printing to the expo.

Professor Lamberov talked to the Governor while the latter was browsing the booths and told him about KFU-made heterogeneous catalysts for oil refining and petrochemistry. They are currently produced in other provinces, and there are plans to localize production in Tatarstan. With that in mind, the University has already allocated a facility and purchased a part of the necessary equipment. Mr Minnikhanov said that the project is promising and needs support.

As Dr Antipin emphasized later, the technologies are ready for large-scale production, with the technology readiness level at the maximum of 9.
