Cooperation prospects discussed with Shiraz University

The guests arrived on 6 December.

The delegation comprised Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan Massoud Mollai, Rector of Shiraz University Mahammad Moazeni, Vice-Rector of Shiraz University for Research and Technology Hossein Sheihi, and Chairman of the Center for Russian Studies of the university Hamed Jaffarpur. They were welcomed by KFU representatives – Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and Director of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Radif Zamaletdinov.

After a tour of the History Museum, Dr Alishev spoke about KFU’s current strategy, priorities, research, and international students. He said that the University hosts 1,208 Iranian nationals, of which 700 are students of medicine and biology. This is a very sizable representation among our 11,000 international students.

The visitors showed interest in opening Russian language courses at Shiraz University. In his response, the Vice-Rector said that KFU has already established such ties with many Iranian universities and will be glad to expand the scope of collaboration. Special attention will be paid in this context to KFU’s Preparatory School for International Students.

Having found out about our first ever overseas branch in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan, which opened in 2022, the delegation also plans to mull over such possibility for their home country.
