Kazan University among winners of Heroes of Our Time in Tatarstan awards

The ceremony took place on 20 December at Bashir Rameev IT Park in Kazan.

The award is administered by the Young Guard of United Russia (YGUR), the youth wing of the Russia’s largest political party. The event was visited by Chairman of the State Council (Parliament) of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Senator Alexander Terentyev, other parliamentarians, officials, and community activists.

The award comprises three regular nominations – Young Hero, Heroes of Our Time, and Contributor to Humanitarian Missions. This year, a special nomination titled Humanitarian Headquarters was opened for those who provided help to displaced persons from Donetsk Republic and Lugansk Republic. It’s this nomination that went to Kazan Federal University and 10 other universities, companies, and municipal bodies.

Between 2016 and 2021, 113 Tatarstanis have become laureates for their heroic feats and acts of courage in everyday life.

The award’s name, Heroes of Our Time, refers to one of the most famous masterpieces of Russian prose, Mikhail Lermontov’s A Hero of Our Time.
