Oleg Korobchenko conveyed words of condolence from Rustam Minnikhanov and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan.
“When I learned about the disappearance of the Iranian President’s helicopter, I prayed to God that everything would be fine. But today there is news that everyone on board has passed. This is a great loss not only for Iran, but also for Russia and, in particular, for Tatarstan,” said Oleg Korobchenko. “President Raisi was a good friend of Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of Tatarstan, and, most importantly, he had a great love for Russia. Our countries have become very close over the past few years.”
He emphasized that interaction between Russia and Iran will be strengthened no matter what.
Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan Dawood Mirzakhani thanked everyone for their support and words of condolence.
“Mr Raisi and Mr Abdollahian paid great attention to the development of relations with Tatarstan. The Iranian President visited Kazan, familiarized himself with the potential of Tatarstan and Kazan. When I was appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan, he gave me good advice on the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Iran,” he said.
Timirkhan Alishev emphasized that economic and political relations between Iran and Russia, and Tatarstan in particular, are at a high level.
“The tragic events will not prevent the positive relations that exist between our countries, including in education and science,” the Vice-Rector assured.
The Vice-Rector noted that KFU has about 1,500 students from the Islamic Republic of Iran, most of whom plan to return home after completing their studies to contribute to the development of their country. Today, Iranian students took the initiative to support the memorial action and came to lay flowers at the improvised memorial.
“The death of President Ebrahim Raisi is a huge, irreparable loss for Iranian society. We will keep his memory bright,” said medicine student Musavi Arghavan Salad.
