KFU representatives among winners of Russian Student of the Year 2022 award in two nominations

Our students were honored in Student Media and Class President nominations.

Over 1,000 students from 70 provinces gathered in Moscow last week to compete and receive commendations for their hard work this year. Overall, Student of the Year included 13 nominations for tertiary education and 11 nominations for vocational education, along with three separate professional categories for teacher education, medical education, and architecture.

The Student Media of the Year prize went to Studio I, a KFU media community. Chief editor Eva Batyukova shares, “We were pleasantly shocked to have a chance to show ourselves on a national level. It’s very valuable to show who we are and the nonstandard media format we represent. We don’t issue news, we don’t cover our institute’s life, but we talk about things important for students, we try to create content by students and for students, speak about opportunities, and inspire for new achievements.”

Studio I (the reading is phonetic, as in the pronoun “I”) was opened in 2019 and is dedicated to creativity, self-development, and self-actualization of students. There are currently 85 contributors, mostly KFU students. Apart from media activities, the team is engaged in student training.

As for the Class President of the Year, this title went to Ilzira Galimbikova, master student of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication – she was ahead of 24 competitors.

“I really wanted to win for Kazan Federal University. The emotions just cannot be put into words. All the participants were very unique, and the jury had a tough task on their hands. I am very happy and thankful to the University for my preparation,” says the triumphant.

Russian Student of the Year is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Ministry of Enlightenment of Russia, Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, Russian Youth Union, and Russia – Country of Opportunities platform.
