KFU’s Medical Simulation Center visited by children with special needs
Students of the secondary school N 172 of Kazan were accompanied by Head of the Section of Experimental Surgery and Simulation Medicine Almaz Garaev and 5th year student, Laboratory Assistant Guzel Khafizova.

“Due to the fact that the excursion was attended by blind and visually impaired students, we focused on tactile and auditory sensations. First, the children were given the opportunity to examine the models of bones. After that, they got acquainted with the “beating heart” simulator and learned that all parts of the heart beat differently. Then, with the help of an ascultoscope, the schoolchildren listened to how the lungs and heart work. At the end of the tour, I told and showed how you can provide first aid to a person, and explained how, before the arrival of an ambulance, to establish what happened to the victim, and what information should be reported when calling an ambulance,” explains Khafizova.
Schoolteacher Yuliya Basharkina comments, “During our open world classes, corrective classes, and homemaking and everyday life classes we teach these children the basics of human body and first aid. Such trips really help them learn faster and socialize with other people.”

The event was organized in anticipation of the White Cane Safety Day, 15 October, a date of international awareness of the needs of visually impaired persons.
