Meeting with Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan Yerlan Iskakov
He spoke with Rector Lenar Safin on 14 November.
Rector Safin noted, “Kazakhstan is KFU’s important partner in Central Asia, and we pay much attention to this cooperation as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program. We have a wide range of joint projects, including undergaduate and graduate programs and bilateral research.”


The Consul congratulated Dr. Safin on the latter’s recent appointment. He thanked KFU for its support of Kazakhstani students and expressed hope that a full-scale KFU branch opening in Kazakhstan will happen soon. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has mentioned Kazan University as an example of fruitful academic cooperation, and the Government of Kazakhstan is eager to speed up the branch project.


As of now, KFU hosts 520 Kazakhstani students and has 29 partner institutions in Kazakhstan, including Eurasian National University, Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Kazakh National University, and others.
