Meetup on employment opportunities arranged for international students

Over 80 persons visited the event on 19 October.

The meetup featured representatives of the Mayor’s Office of Kazan and Kazan Federal University’s Center for Temporary Student Employment.

Legal aspects of employment for foreigners were covered by Associate Professor Larisa Kirillova. She spoke about most typical cases and offered solutions for them.

A special checklist was presented by Yadviga Turabova, Head of the Committee of International Student Affairs of the Faculty of Law. Participants could study it and then complete a little quiz to memorize the most important points.

The Mayor’s Office shared the hottest job market demands right now, which include fitters, concrete workers, car drivers, gas welders, engineers, masons, storekeepers, confectioners, construction painters, massage therapists, sales managers, installers, tilers, carpenters, cooks, technicians, plasterers, and electricians. Over 1,500 such jobs are currently available in the city’s construction and maintenance market. Other industries with wide opportunities include public transit and hospitality.

Foreign nationals who are 18 years of age and higher can work without additional permits if they meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolment in full-time education in a higher or vocational school;
  • The program must have government accreditation.
