Mīrzā Ulugh Beg Center opened at Kazan University
The ceremony on 14 December featured Rector Lenar Safin and Rector of Ulugh Beg National University of Uzbekistan Inom Madzhidov.

The Ulugh Beg Center aims to popularize Uzbek language and culture in Tatarstan and strengthen ties between the two partner universities. Recently, a mirror move was made by Kazan Federal University in Tashkent, where an office of Qayum Nasyri Center was established on the premises of the National University of Uzbekistan.

“We really cannot praise enough the contribution of scientists, enlighteners, and linguists to the matter of peace and progress,” opined Rector Safin. “This Center’s activities will reinforce the cultural and historical links between our peoples.” He reminded that Uzbekistan is KFU’s key partner in Central Asia.

Rector Madzhidov had words of gratitude, “This is a first such center opened outside of our country. Mīrzā Ulugh Beg was an outstanding Uzbek scholar and statesman who immensely influenced the development of science and the human civilization. After 600 years, his name is a symbol of unity between the nations of the East and the West in their humanitarian endeavors.”
