Professor Igor Antipin receives prestigious Markovnikov Medal

He was commended by the Russian Academy of Sciences for achievements in organic chemistry.

“The bestowal of such a valued award is a very high praise of my research activity, including its applied domains. This mostly refers to organic supramolecular chemistry. As aptly put by Academician, Professor of Kazan University Alexander Konovalov, it is a bridge between living and non-living matter. Supramolecular chemistry paves the way for intelligent materials, which will determine the technological progress of humankind,” shares the awardee.

The Markovnikov Medal was established in 2017 by the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University. It was named after Vladimir Markovnikov (1837 – 1904), author of the eponymous Markovnikov’s rule and one of the most prominent chemists to have worked at Kazan University.

Among the most recent developments of the Department of Organic and Medical Chemistry is a technology of production of superstructural polymer polyphenylene sulfide and monomer para-dichlorobenzene used as part of the former’s technological process.
