Psychological clinic to be opened at University in 2022

The project aims to help students in coping with their problems.

A research undertaken in 2021 in Tatarstan showed that freshmen show relatively high levels of anxiety and aggression.

“The results demonstrate, among other things, that the 18-to-23 age group shows a tendency to disapprove of the existing social norms, are highly susceptible to the information from unreliable sources, generally do not trust the mainstream media, and are not interested in patriotic or ideological narratives,” explains Lyaysan Rybakova, Deputy Director for Social Work of the Institute of Psychology and Education. “That’s why we decided to establish this psychological clinic.”

The Institute itself currently has over 540 students enrolled in various psychology majors.

“The project’s main objectives are to increase the psychological literacy of all the participants of the learning process, to help students and educators maintain psychological wellbeing, and to provide group and individual psychological support,” adds the interviewee.

The clinic itself should launch this year, and a psychological help hotline is in plans for 2023.

Some of the pilot programs for the future clinic are already being tested, including team building, communication and leadership training, and speaking classes.
