Rector Lenar Safin conversed with Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan Guych Garaev

The talks were held on 21 October.

They were joined by Vice-Rector for External Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and Turkmenistani diplomat Ashirali Nazarov.

“Tatarstan and Turkmenistan carry out constructive interaction in a number of key areas, including science and education. In the current academic year, about 3,700 citizens of Turkmenistan study in various specialties at KFU. We also regularly train school staff. We are always open to dialogue and ready to provide all possible assistance to representatives of friendly countries,” emphasized Dr. Safin.

The Consul thanked KFU leadership for their support lent to students, “For our high schoolers, Russia is the main market for overseas education. Kazan University is one of the most popular universities, and its contribution to the Russian-Turkmenistani relations is invaluable.”

The sides discussed further work with young activists, including the opportunities offered by Tatarstan’s House of Peoples’ Friendship. Rector Safin suggested talking over possible opening of KFU-curated classes or schools in Turkmenistan; such institutions can offer specialized preparation for enrolment and adaptation to Russian realities.

After the meeting, the Consul proceeded to meet with Turkmenistani students.
