Rector Lenar Safin joins meeting with Palestinian delegation
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the guests in his office on 14 September.
The sides discussed cooperation within the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, of which Rustam Minnikhanov is the chairman since 2014.
The President noted the importance of further enforcing links between Russian and Islamic countries in economy, culture, and youth collaboration. Russia – Islamic World is purposed to promote such ties.
Mr. Minnikhanov mentioned that Tatarstan is an active participant of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and spoke about the recently celebrated 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in Russia (then the territory of Volga Bulgaria, a medieval polity in the Volga region). The OIC also co-organizes KazanSummit, an annual economic gathering of representatives of Russia and the global Muslim community.
