Rector Lenar Safin took part in the opening of the seminar-meeting with the heads of advanced engineering schools

The event was held on the site of the Higher School of Oil in Almetyevsk under the chairmanship of Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais (Governor) of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The KFU team was also represented by Marat Safiullin, Vice-Rector for Economic and Strategic Development, Guzel Kapitonova, Director of Cyber Auto Tech advanced engineering school, and Georgy Kotiev, the school’s scientific supervisor and Director of Naberezhnye Chelny Institute.

The Rais emphasized that at present the Republic, as well as the whole country, is in great need of specialists in engineering and manufacturing. Effective work, according to Rustam Minnikhanov, should start at school, give children good basic knowledge, as well as invest in laboratories and resource centers for engineering training.

“There are five advanced engineering schools working at five local universities,” the Rais reminded. “All of them are equipped with modern laboratories where not only the educational process but also the acquisition of research skills are organized. However, if we do not unite the interests of the university and manufacturers, we will fail. We have to form target groups. And this is the kind of work our universities are doing.”

KFU’s Cyber Auto Tech is successfully implementing projects in the interests of its key industrial partner, KAMAZ. Cooperation with the engineering school has allowed the company to obtain promising design and technological solutions for automobile production.

As Lenar Safin noted earlier, the university trains a new type of engineering staff capable of implementing breakthrough developments and conducting research for the automotive industry, as well as solving specific applied and strategic tasks for companies in low-carbon footprint vehicles, development of intelligent cars, and intelligent manufacturing technologies. In the near future, the university plans to become number one in this area.

The seminar-meeting of advanced engineering schools will be held for three days and will serve as a single platform for solving topical issues and sharing experience for school representatives, university rectors, government officials, and tech companies.

The participants of the meeting will summarize the results of the schools’ activities for 2023 and discuss the prospects of personnel training to achieve the country’s technological sovereignty, the school management system, their interaction with industrial partners, and possible tools for attracting talented young people.
