University regulations clarified to international enrollees
Hundreds of freshmen gathered to listen to university and police employees on 13 December.
The contributors were Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina, and Acting Director of the Department of Security Andrey Prokhorenko; the invitees were officers of the Department of Extremism Prevention and Department of Drug Enforcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tatarstan.

The Vice-Rector noted that such annual meetings aim to help fresh students adapt in their new environment, follow local laws and avoid problems. He urged everyone to contact university representatives should any issues arise in order to resolve everything as soon as possible and told the young people to refrain from spontaneous decisions which may prove ruinous in the long run.

The invited police officers spoke about oft-encountered problems with drug crime and extremism. They gave advice on how to avoid most common mistakes in such sensitive matters. The general recommendation was what is indeed applicable in any environment – stay away from alcohol, illicit drugs, and seedy establishments, and be very careful with your public posts on the web.

Mr. Prokhorenko briefly talked about KFU’s facility access regulations and requirements for dormitory stay. Director Vershinina explained the basics of visa and migration registration, which is traditionally the most pertinent question for students and often leads to unnecessary disappointment.
