Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko discussed pertinent issues with rectors

He held a conference call on 21 April; Acting Rector of KFU Dmitry Tayursky joined the talks.

Among the raised questions were the enrolment campaign of 2022, Postupi.Online (Russia’s online admission service), various digitization issues, engineering schools, and graduate employment.

Chernyshenko urged the universities to contribute to technological sovereignty and to concentrate on import substitution. He said that the federal government is working day and night to address the challenges presented by the existing sanctions, and measures have been taken for many of them.

He said that 15 May is the deadline for applications for hardware and software purchases and/or updates in light of the restrictions. A smooth transition to homemade products is planned.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov spoke about the activities of the ministry. In particular, no inspections, either regular or case-based, will be held at universities in 2022. Some of the requirements to grant applications have been eased. The minister asked everyone to focus on key projects to help solve the most pressing scientific and technological problems.
