Vice-Rector for External Affairs Timirkhan Alishev toured KFU branch facilities in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan

He was accompanied by Counsellor to the Rector for Cooperation with Central Asia Rashit Azimov.

Building renovations should be completed before October, including study rooms, dormitories, and canteens. Mayor of Jizzakh Kamil Kholmurodov informed that the municipal administration decided to allocate additional 800 thousand USD for a speedier and more comprehensive accomplishment of the existing plans.

A meeting was held with Director of the Jizzakh Branch of the National University of Uzbekistan Olim Turakulov. The National University is one of major partners for KFU in Central Asia.

The visitors then moved to the capital city Tashkent where they spoke with Deputy Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan Shakhlokhon Turdikulova. A trilateral agreement was signed by the Ministry, KFU, and the Foundation for Science Funding and Innovation Support of Uzbekistan; the agreement details future internships of Uzbekistani scientists in Kazan. An internship previously commissioned by the Ministry for vice-rectors of Uzbekistani universities was successfully conducted by KFU in June.

After that, the Kazanian delegation met with Deputy Minister of Higher and Vocational Education of Uzbekistan Sarvarkhon Buzrukkhonov and discussed future functioning of the Jizzakh Branch, including tuition fees and allocated public-funded vacancies for students. The Ministry will disburse 1.6 million USD for equipment purchases.

Finally, an agreement was reached with Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan Inom Madzhidov to continue joint programs in cartography, geography, and economics. Another master program, Russian Language and Literature as Part of World Culture, is going to open doors soon.
