KFU’s projects in Russian language popularization presented to Rais of Tatarstan

Rais (Governor) Rustam Minnikhanov met with representatives of the Russian ethnic community at the Yevgenii Boratynskii Museum in Kazan. Representatives of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication told about the activities aimed at popularization of the Russian language, Russian literature and culture in the world.

The event was attended by the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova and Chairman of the Russian Ethnic Cultural Association of Tatarstan Irina Aleksandrovskaya.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that representatives of more than 170 ethnicities live in the republic in peace and harmony.

“This is our great wealth. The necessary conditions have been created so that all of them could practice their religion, preserve their national traditions,” the Rais said.

Kazan Federal University pays much attention to projects to promote Russian language and literature in the world, Yekaterina Shtyrlina, associate professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, told Rustam Minnikhanov.

“First of all, we talked about the educational process, which is carried out within the walls of our institute for foreign-language philologists and linguists. The questions of socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students of the Institute and international events – scientific, educational, cultural, which not only develop and improve practical skills of Russian language, but also expand the awareness of international students about Russian culture, were touched upon,” commented Shtyrlina.

The meeting was attended by Wang Yucong (China), a PhD student of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language. He told about his experience of studying Russian language and projects on the development of international relations between China and Russia. Wang is an active participant of We Are Together Friendship Club, a student entity at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.

Rustam Minnikhanov, in turn, proposed to prepare an event with the participation of Chinese students as part of the upcoming international ROSTKI Russia – China Forum.
