International Graduate Day held at Kazan University

On July 5, some of the top performers in studies and extracurricular activities were commended at the History Museum.

Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina, and Head of Student Adaptation Unit Sergey Tsvetkov visited the ceremony to give away awards.

This year, 1,414 overseas nationals graduated from tertiary and postgraduate education programs, and 691 more successfully completed pre-university courses.

Vice-Rector Alishev noted how this past academic year was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, “Whatever the pandemic and the border closure situation is, the most important thing is your future. This year, based on your achievements, was more successful than the previous one. It so happened that hardships have stimulated many young people, and you are among them.”

In conclusion, he reminded of the importance of vaccination and said that the University Clinic’s doors are open for those who wish to be inoculated.

Research Associate of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, Algerian citizen Mohammed Amine Khelkhal shared, “I came to Russia in 2013, then won a grant for PhD studies at Kazan Federal University and graduated from the course in 2018. In 2019, I enrolled in the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance. I graduated from it cum laude. In April 2021, I successfully presented my PhD thesis on heavy oil oxidation.”

Master student of the Institute of Environmental Sciences Macamo Sofia Arlindo (Mozambique) noted that KFU, compared with other universities, offers more opportunities with regards to extracurricular development. She opined that her example is inspiring for her compatriots. They consider applying to Kazan University as one of their priorities.

“I have encountered wonderful people – professors and classmates. They have consistently helped and supported me. Here, I feel like in my home country. I am very glad to have studied at KFU,” said Vega Guevara (Ecuador), graduate of the Institute of Psychology and Education.
