Interim Rector Dmitry Tayursky presented Kazan University’s achievements to State Council (Parliament) of Tatarstan
A meeting was held on 16 March.
Apart from Speaker Farid Mukhametshin, the meeting also featured President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin.
Here are some thematic points raised by the Interim Rector during his report.
Priority 2030
In 2021, KFU was chosen among the participants of Priority 2030 – a new federal program for academic leadership. The University has since received both program grants (the so-called general and special grants).
Overall, KFU increased its non-public (i. e. not from public funds) revenue by 20%.
Academics
KFU offered 602 higher education programs in the academic year 2021/2022, including 36 joint programs. There are over 11 thousand international students (second place in Russia after RUDN University).
10 partnership agreements were signed in 2021 to conduct network teaching with leading Russian universities in 37 disciplines. Over 1,500 students partook in such programs.
Overall, the revenue from fee-based educational services in 2021 amounted to 4.1 billion rubles.
Research and development
KFU serves as the head organization of the World-Class Research Center in Liquid Hydrocarbons.
In 2021, the University worked on 7 governmental mega-grants of Russia; KFU teams won 86 grants from the Russian Science Foundation.
In 2021, KFU registered 57 intellectual property rights (including 1 international patent), 55 Russian rights protection documents, and 1 copyright object.
KFU earned 2.1 billon rubles from R&D during the year and published 2,320 papers in Scopus and Web of Science databases.
Youth policies
Over 300 events in arts, sports, volunteering, and other activities were held last year. KFU hosts 140 students unions, 100 teams and collectives, and 120 science clubs.
Digital infrastructure
Over 180 rooms and facilities were equipped with digital devices to implement online and hybrid learning formats during the year.
The International Office now has a separate consultation room for international students with 12 booths and provides an electronic queue service.
Contribution to the local economy
61,133 professionals received advanced training and retraining courses at KFU in 2021. Additionally, 962 children graduated from elementary and secondary school programs.
KFU’s University Clinic provided 3.5 million diagnostic tests, 11,072 surgeries, and introduced 10 new diagnostic procedures last year.
