The expo at the Ethnographical Museum is in memoriam of prominent ethnographer Lidia Toksubayeva (1948 – 2017).

The exhibits include specimens of woodcutting and embroidery obtained by Toksubayeva and her colleagues during numerous expeditions in the 1960s – 1980s. There are also personal belongings, photos, and diaries.

Head of the Ethnographical Museum Arslan Mingaliev noted during the opening ceremony on 14 February, “This exhibition opens our Eastern Year of the Ethnographical Museum and is a wonderful commemoration of Lidia Toksubayeva, a distinguished field scientist and beloved teacher.”

A lecture on the decorative ethnic arts of the Volga Region is planned for 26 February, and the exhibition itself is active until 13 May.
