Kazan University Student of the Year ceremony held at UNICS Culture and Sports Center

Rector Ilshat Gafurov greeted the participants and gave away the awards.

In his speech, the Rector said that student years are a time of discoveries, new friendships, life skills, and the beginning of one’s professional journey.

“Kazan University opens immense opportunities in learning, research, arts, sports, and professional training,” said he.

Just this year, despite the existing pandemic-related restrictions, a significant number of student events and competitions have been held. The year, named the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, also marked an increase in various research activities and new openings.

Student of the Year contest is always a big occasion, especially considering the tough competition between talented students of KFU. Overall, there are 23 nominations, and not only for students; for instance, there is also Best Tutor nomination for educators. Special attention was paid to volunteers as well – they have shown their best qualities during the pandemic, helping the most disadvantaged individuals and communities.

The Student of the Year at KFU Grand Prix went to Denis Davydov, who just the day before won the same category at the all-Russian Student of the Year awards.

In conclusion, Rector Gafurov announced that special New Year disbursements will be made in addition to usual scholarships and stipends to all public-funded students.
