KFU pledges to create history-based metaverse of Tatarstan
The project by Digital Media Lab was presented at the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan.
The Lab has already implemented a virtual historical reconstruction project titled The Great Bolgar in 14th Century. It will be used as a starting point for the metaverse.
“We have a millennial history, and we can show it to the world. It’s comprehensive and deep, and it comprises a vast number of facts, events, and persons,” explains lab employee Vitaly Abramov. “We are currently working on a concept and a design assignment.”
The Tat.Metaverse is planned to include elements of MMO and functionality to create and play. The in-game editor will include tools to create events, exhibitions, museums, mini-games, and other elements – all this in an original historical environment, which provides opportunities for involved studies. The objective is to attract people from all over the world to learn more about Tatarstan.
The Digital Media Lab has had experience of creating big virtual simulations of historical heritage, such as Imenkovo Settlement, Bolgar, Sviyazhsk, and Chudov Monastery and Ascension Convent in Moscow.
The project will receive support from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Digital Development of Tatarstan. First results should be presented in two years.
