Cyber Auto Tech Automotive Engineering School presents regular report in Moscow

A two-day session of Council on Advanced Engineering School Grants was held on 11 – 12 February.

The KFU delegation comprised Rector Lenar Safin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yekaterina Turilova, Vice-Rector for Economic and Strategic Development Marat Safiullin, and Director of the Automotive School (CATAES) Guzel Kapitonova. KFU’s key partner, KAMAZ, was represented by Director for Development Irek Gumerov.

Guzel Kapitonova mentioned in her report, “The CATAES works to retain young talent. Of course, our partner KAMAZ provides a framework for our development by commissioning professionals and posing tasks. This can help attract more bright young people to Naberezhnye Chelny.”

She specified that the School’s educational programs are tailored to KAMAZ’s hiring plans for the next 5 to 10 years, “We work together on the details of a new training model for engineers of the future. We have KAMAZ employees already working as teachers at the CATAES.” The School’s three current priorities are intelligent transport, low-carbon transport, and smart production.

Guzel Kapitonova mentioned the most important results of 2022. As it appears, the School launched a master program in autonomous energy systems, a bachelor program in electric vehicles, and three advanced training programs – in alternative energy, software engineering, and calculation modeling. In the nearest plans is to open five new educational programs, including those for driverless transport.

In 2023, the University aims to open a new study and research building and dorms for CATAES.

The advanced engineering schools project was launched by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia in 2022 to support 30 leading universities in creating educational and research units in the most pertinent areas of engineering. The grant funding is distributed based on annual performance indicators.

As a result, the Council decided to allocate 348 million rubles to KFU’s engineering school in 2023.
