First Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky speaks about engineering education at 6th Professors’ Forum

His report was titled ‘Digital studies of materials: KFU’s experience in engineering education in physical materials science’.

The purpose of the event, which took place on November 14-16 in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod and brought together more than 2.5 thousand participants – representatives of executive and legislative authorities, business, scientific community, rectors and staff of universities, was to identify priority tasks of science and education development, as well as the role of scientific and educational elite of Russia in their implementation.

The section on physical sciences, titled ‘Physics – the basis of personnel training to achieve technological independence of Russia’, where Dr Tayursky made a report, worked at St. Petersburg State University.

In addition, the Vice-Rector took part in a discussion on topical issues of physics teaching. The discussion focused on the formation of competencies required to address the development of critical and cross-cutting technologies, ensuring a seamless personnel transition from education to production, the establishemnt of standard and digital inter-institutional departments, the implementation of advanced engineering schools and a pilot project to change the levels of professional education. The discussion resulted in a resolution with recommendations to the government and the professional community.

The event was held before the Day of Higher Education Teacher, which will be celebrated on November 19.
