KFU’s Center for Latin American Studies presented at Institute of Latin American Studies in Moscow

Head of the Center Liliya Ilikova spoke about the University’s cooperation with Latin America.

She informed that KFU currently hosts 178 citizens of Latin American countries, including Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The University also employs educators from Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, and Ecuador.

Among KFU’s partners in the region and National Polytechnic Institute (Mexico), Higher Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Moa (Cuba), University of Information Science (Cuba), and the Embassy of Brazil in Russia. The Center for Advanced Training (Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies) has longstanding cooperation with Cuba’s national oil company CUPET.

In particular, the agreement with the Embassy of Brazil to promote Portuguese language and Brazilian culture was signed just last week.

Representatives of the Institute of Psychology and Education are now at Brazil’s University of Sorocaba at an internship in BRICS educational systems.

“In my report, I spoke in detail about the activities of the KFU’s Latin American Center, about the participation of our faculty from Latin American countries in the work of the center, their initiative and responsiveness. I also familiarized the participants of the meeting with how the academic exchange of students is carried out. The listeners were interested that two of our students have recently received scholarships to participate in a summer school in Brazil, which will be held in Belo Horizonte,” said Ilikova. “Colleagues from Moscow and Latin American countries were surprised at how actively KFU is developing cooperation with Latin American countries and expressed their willingness to cooperate with our university.”
