Student Startup winner Alfayaad Assim working on acoustic treatment of oil deposits

He is among the lucky recipients of the 1 million rubles in funding for entrepreneurship initiatives.

Aflayaad Assim’s project ‘Technology of de-emulsification and oil recovery enhancement in heavy oil deposits’ is supervised by Associate Professor Ruslan Kemalov.

The winner comments, “In the process of oil and gas production in hard-to-recover fields, a number of problems arise, such as a decrease in permeability and an increase in viscosity. In order to find a solution to these problems, it is necessary to choose the optimal technology for influencing the reservoir, and this project is dedicated to that. An acoustic impact equipment makes it possible to create a powerful acoustic field in the well and near the wellbore formation zone. The equipment consists of a ground-based ultrasonic generator, a cable, and a downhole acoustic transducer. Downhole acoustic transducer is lowered on a tubing string to the required depth. With the allocated funds, we plan to develop a mathematical model of the influence of ultrasonic exposure on Python, design an ultrasonic generator based on the data obtained from mathematical modeling, purchase the main and auxiliary equipment for assembling the ultrasonic generator, and develop regulatory and technical documentation.”

This topic will also be covered in the interviewee’s PhD thesis.

In total, 18 students of KFU were winners of last year’s Student Startup iteration.
